Mental preparation starts with a good planning of the stages, not trying to cover the way just to complete stages; you should try to make stops, look for places to rest and of interest to increase your enthusiasm along the way, which is essential to ensure that you overcome the most difficult moments.

Should you feel any discomfort in any of the stages, consider even a one-day stop. Adjusting your meals to the effort and night rest are two parameters that are also important to avoid mental fatigue. During summer, be aware of heat-related fatigue, for which hydration is fundamental.
